The New Orleans Police Department reported a shooting Friday (Sept. 25) night in Hollygrove. Second District officers responding to a call at 11:24 p.m. in the 8900 block of Olive Street found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital by the Emergency Medical Service. Further details were not immediately available.
Sixth District officers patrolling in Central City late Friday night were flagged down by a shooting victim, the New Orleans Police Department reported. A 45-year-old man stopped the officers around midnight at Loyola and Washington avenues, near Lafayette Cemetery No. 2. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital. He had been shot by two assailants, the police report states.
A man was shot to death in the Lower Garden District on Sunday afternoon, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At 1:43 p.m, NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 600 block of Felicity Street. They found a man, later identified as Johnathan Davis, suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical responders attempted life-saving measures; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Davis was 22.
A 19-year-old man was killed in Central City on Wednesday, the New Orleans Police Department reported. NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 1300 block of South Saratoga Street, near Thalia Street, at about 5:10 p.m.. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, later identified as Gerren Green, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Medical responders declared Green dead at the scene, and the incident was reclassified as a homicide. He was 19.
Four people, including a 14-year-old boy and a 64-year-old woman, were shot in Central City on Monday, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The quadruple shooting occurred at about 8:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Freret Street, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Sixth District officers responding to reports of an aggravated battery by shooting discovered multiple victims who were struck by gunfire. The teenager suffered a graze wound to the ankle during this incident. An adult male sustained a graze wound to the head, and another man sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The New Orleans Police Department apprehended a suspect fleeing the scene of a fatal shooting in Central City. On Friday around 10:25 a.m., Sixth District officers were on patrol near Clio Street and Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way when they heard a single gunshot. Officers discovered an adult male victim lying in the street in the 1200 block of Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way. The Emergency Medical Service was called, and the medical responders pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as Cedric Simmons Jr. Simmons was 34.
Two men were shot to death Sunday night in the Leonidas neighborhood, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At 10:22 p.m., NOPD Second District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at Joliet and Jeanette streets. They found two adult male victims down, each with multiple gunshot wounds. The victims died at the scene. The New Orleans Police Department reported a shooting and an armed robbery in Uptown neighborhoods on Thursday. The shooting in the Leonidas neighborhood left a 27-year-old man injured. He was struck by gunfire at about 4:20 p.m., when a group of men walked up to him in the 1700 block of Eagle Street and opened fire, the police report states. The victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. The armed robbery occurred in the Milan neighborhood at about 5:50 p.m. A 33-year-old man in the 2100 block of Napoleon Avenue was approached by a man who lifted his jacket to reveal a handgun and demanded his property.
A teenage girl was injured Saturday night in a triple drive-by shooting on a residential Gert Town street, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The 15-year-old was sitting in a car outside a home in the 4300 block of Thalia Street at about 9:20 p.m. when a Red Kia Soul drove up. Gunfire erupted from the Kia, striking the teenager and two 37-year-old men. The suspects fled down Thalia in the car. The Emergency Medical Service took the teen and one of the men to the hospital.
The victim in a Central City shooting Sunday (July 26) died from his injuries, the New Orleans Police Department reported. The incident began with a traffic accident on Fourth Street and Claiborne Avenue, police said. After the crash, the gunman got out of one of the vehicles and shot at a man in the other vehicle before fleeing the scene. At around 11:48 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting at the intersection at the intersection. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 28-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wounds.
