Four men approached a a driver on a Hollygrove street early Thursday, took his car and then shot at him, the New Orleans Police Department reported. At about 12:30 a.m., a 34-year-old man was driving in the 9000 block of Palm Street when he was stopped by four armed men. They forced him out of the vehicle and demanded his property. As the victim fled the scene, the gunmen fired at him. He was not injured in the shooting, police said.
A carjacking and two robberies were reported in Uptown neighborhoods over the weekend, according to the New Orleans Police Department. A woman was carjacked Sunday afternoon in Central City, the NOPD reported. A man shoved the 28-year-old victim to the ground at South Tonti Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard at about 1:30 p.m., the report states. He then took her keys and fled in her car. The police report states the NOPD knows the identity of the assailant, but his name was not provided.

The NOPD is searching for a subject wanted for an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred in the Broadmoor area. The incident occurred on early Tuesday (Feb. 25)in the 4000 block of South Derbigny Street.
Two carjackings occurred as Mardi Gras festivities wound down on Tuesday, one in Broadmoor and another in Central City. The first was reported at about 8 p.m. in 3300 block of South Broad Street. A 21-year-old man was approached by three men as he was getting into his car. One of them grabbed the victim’s shoulder, and he turned around. He faced a gun pointed at him.
During a weekend that included a homicide in Central City, another shooting, a carjacking in the and a robbery were also reported in Uptown neighborhoods. The shooting took place about eight blocks from a fatal shooting that occurred on the same evening, Sunday, Jan. 26. At 8:52 p.m., about four-and-a-half hours after a man died from gunshot wounds at Washington Avenue and Dryades Street, a man walked into a hospital emergency room with a gunshot wound to his foot. Ogden Street, near Olive Street. He was approached by four men, one of them armed with a gun, the police report states. They demanded that he get out of the vehicle, and he complied.
An armed purse snatching, a stabbing during a domestic argument and an armed carjacking were reported to the New Orleans Police Department in Uptown neighborhoods over 24 hours on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday morning, a 66-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint on Magazine Street in the Garden District. A woman armed with a gun forcefully removed a purse from the 66-year-old’s shoulder at about 7 a.m. in the 2800 block of Magazine, according to a police report. The purse snatcher then fled on foot. The first victim was a 54-year-old man who was pumping gas at the Magnolia in the 3400 block of Carrollton Avenue at about 9:45 on Dec. 3. As he filled his tank, he was approached from the side by a man asking for a cigarette. After the victim told him he didn’t have any cigarettes, the man took out a gun and demanded his keys.

On Friday afternoon, a man helping a stranger who professed to be a Vietnam veteran was robbed at his home near Audubon Park, the New Orleans Police Department reported. A 62-year-old man responded to a knock on his door in the 300 block of Broadway at about 3:30 p.m. to find a stranger who, saying he had served in Vietnam, professed to be stranded and asked for money to get home. The victim let the man inside and went to get his wallet. In the meantime, the intruder rummaged through the living room and found a box of cash.

The victim, a 42-year-old woman, was in her car at Baronne and Dufossat streets just before 7 p.m. wen she was approached by a man holding a gun. He demanded that she get out of the car and turn over her keys, and she complied. The gunman fled in the victim’s vehicle, followed by a red sedan. Further details were not immediately available.
